During a recent research trip to the UK, Julie Stubbs presented a seminar on Justice Reinvestment and the prospects for reducing women’s incarceration at a forum hosted by UK Prison Reform Trust in London. The seminar was very timely given the closure of HMP Holloway, debates about future developments on the Holloway site and the future of the women’s penal estate in the England and Wales.
She also consulted with justice officials in Scotland where major reforms to the women’s penal estate are also in progress. Julie also presented a seminar on ‘Justice Reinvestment and Evidence Based Policy – Beyond What Works?’ at the Scottish Centre for Criminal Justice Research at the University of Glasgow.
